On behalf of the Danish Ministry of Transport and Energy, Femern Bælt A/S is responsible for the preliminary tasks for the execution of the coast-to-coast link until further notice.
Femern Bælt A/S is a subsidiary of the Danish state-owned Sund & Bælt Holding A/S, the company behind the fixed links across Storebælt and Øresund.
All Femern Bælt A/S activities will be conducted by the permanent company, which the Danish Minister of Transport is expected to establish during 2009.
As the Fehmarnbelt client, the company will be responsible for preparation, planning, design, construction, financing, ownership and operation and maintenance of the coast-to-coast link
As sole shareholder of the company – and thus owner of the coast-to-coast link across Fehmarnbelt – the Danish state will provide state guarantees for the loans obtained to finance the construction of the traffic facility.
It has been agreed that the link’s toll station will be located in Denmark.
